Stranger punches man in Chicago for not having a cigarette lighter -- then bites off part of his ear: police

A 51-year-old man was assaulted in Chicago Thursday morning after a stranger approached him and asked for a cigarette lighter, according to police.


According to local news outlet WGNTV, the victim said he did not have a lighter on him. The stranger then punched him in the back of the head and bit off part of his ear.

The assailant then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Northwestern Hospital in stable condition.
