CNN panel blows up after conservative guest tries to lecture civil rights leader on how blacks should protest

A Saturday morning CNN panel devolved to a shouting match after conservative radio host Ben Ferguson lectured an African-American civil rights leader on how black people should protest.

Discussing the new Nike "Just Do It" campaign and Colin Kaepernick, Ferguson listed his complaints about the activism against police brutality against people of color.

"This protest is not about the flag," CNN anchor Christi Paul noted. "Why is it that people cannot seem to separate the focus of this protest -- about police brutality and African-Americans and how they are treated -- with patriotism?"

Ferguson claimed the protest had "morphed" because of Kaepernick's socks and the public statements against civil rights by President Donald Trump.

Rashad Robinson, the executive director of the civil rights organization Color of Change, didn't think Ferguson would have ever supported activism by an African-American against police racism.

"At every point in our history, when black people stood up, there have always been people have stood on the sidelines and said you should have protested it this way," Robinson reminded. "They did it to the lunch protesters in the '60s and to Dr. King."

The segment turned into a shouting match when Ferguson cited his father as being a non-racist police officer, while Robinson focused on the overall data of police and racism.

In the end, CNN ended up cutting Robinson's microphone as he tried to answer Ferguson.
