On Thursday, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford delivered harrowing testimony to the Senate judiciary committee. Reporters on the scene observed that multiple witnesses broke into tears as she chronicled the sexual assault she experienced as a high schooler and the impact it's had on her life.
As the Senate judiciary committee took a brief break from the proceedings, a CNN panel responded to the testimony.
CNN analyst Jeffrey Toobin said he was sickened by the testimony and could not believe anyone would doubt Dr. Ford.
"This is sickening to watch," he said. "I'm sorry. I mean, I just find this excruciating. Someone thinks this woman is lying, I mean, just the idea that anyone could consider this false testimony."
He pointed out that many women find the testimony unbearable to watch.
"I'm even seeing it in social media, I'm seeing it in people I know, women who have undergone experiences like this saying, 'I can't watch this because it is a triggering experience,'" he said.
"You know, 50 years from now, people are going to be playing that exchange with Pat Leahy, where he says, 'What do you remember most, and it's the laughter.'"
"That to me is going to be one of the indelible images of this decade, not just this testimony," Toobin concluded.
