President Donald Trump marked the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a breezy tweet — and other social media users buried him in scorn.
The president spent the morning catching up on Fox Business Channel programming from the previous night and complaining about the Russia investigation before turning his glancing attention to the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
17 years since September 11th!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 11, 2018
Other Twitter users were shocked and horrified by his flippant remark.
Thanks. We’re aware https://t.co/mZjfrAW9ST

Thanks Captain Obvious!

What's with the exclamation point, dude?
— Pé Resists (@4everNeverTrump) September 11, 2018
Like it's a happy anniversary or something https://t.co/XBkwgb2n97

There’s a September 11th every year idiot
— Michelle Spies (@spies_please) September 11, 2018
A lot of presidents would use this day to honor the dead, rather than prove they have the ability to count.
— James Felton (@JimMFelton) September 11, 2018
Folks, you look at the numbers and they just keep getting bigger. Many good numbers! https://t.co/SYRGIYiLas
— Drew Magary (@drewmagary) September 11, 2018
Wow…you can count! Amazing.

Dude, why? What's the purpose of this tweet? Don't you have anything more meaningful to say?
— Ｄｒｏｓｓ (@eldiariodedross) September 11, 2018
Him do good math
— tc (@toddcnyc) September 11, 2018
Why do you put an exclamation point like it’s something to be excited about? It’s a sad day of remembrance. You have no humanity.
— Elaine #TeamPelosi (@never_martha) September 11, 2018
Normal tweet. https://t.co/MTRvN98JCz

The sentiment. The eloquence. https://t.co/xZeesFFADd
— Jennifer Hayden (@Scout_Finch) September 11, 2018
Ending with an exclamation mark. No condolances to those who've had to live with the suffering of damage or loss throughout these 17 years? It just seems wrong.
— NicoHS (@NicoHsaint) September 11, 2018
Also 17 years when you called in to WOR radio and bragged that since the World Trade Centers had fallen you now had the tallest building in the city…what a depraved corrupt man you are.
— Dmin (@vardmin) September 11, 2018
You definitely do not have the best words!
— Vanessa Hale (@Hale03Hale) September 11, 2018
Yes, 17 years ago people were dying at this very moment. Your response: "Now my building is the tallest."
17 years later, you're the still the smallest man on Earth.
