Lawyer Michael Avenatti calls Donald Trump a 'moron' -- and challenges him to a Brett Kavanaugh debate
Attorney Michael Avenatti on MSNBC.

In a tweet responding to President Donald Trump's press conference Wednesday, attorney Michael Avenatti lambasted the president for attacking his client, Julie Swetnick.

"Trump is a moron. He knows nothing about me or my client. He is trying to divert attention away from Julie as a smokescreen. I challenge him to debate me regarding Kavanaugh and his accusers and our respective backgrounds. He will never agree because he is a coward and weak," Avenatti tweeted.

He later said he's also "enjoying" the idea that he's "living rent free" in Trump's own mind. The president accused the attorney of it during a non sequitur during the press conference.

In an earlier tweet, Avenatti blasted Trump and the Republicans on the Judicial Committee for appearing to call his client a liar and attacking a survivor of sexual assault.

"Are you three privileged, white men calling my client Julie a liar?" he asked. "How dare you attack a sexual assault victim. She has risked her life to do the right thing. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Your actions are disgraceful."
