On Friday, as the Senate Judiciary disbanded following a vote to take Kavaunaugh's confirmation to the Senate floor, Sen. Jeff Flake's (R-AZ) made a last minute call for an FBI investigation.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who's been largely dismissive of the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, said that he was on his way to speak with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) about the ramifications of the committee's vote in light of the most recent developments.
"What Jeff is saying makes sense to me," Graham said, suggesting that if an investigation quiets Democrats' concerns, that works for him.
He then noted, drawing laughs, that the task of explaining the complex issue to President Donald Trump now falls to him.
"Somebody's gotta explain this to Trump, I guess that's my job," he joked nervously.
"If nothing I'm practical," he concluded as he walked away.
