A panel of MSNBC pundits on Tuesday praised President Donald Trump for delivering a "great" and "emotional" speech about the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

To mark the Sept. 11 anniversary, Trump spoke in Shanksville, Pennsylvania at the site of an aircraft that was downed due to the terrorist attacks.

Using a slower-than-normal cadence, Trump marked the day by reading a speech off of a teleprompter. The group of MSNBC pundits set a low bar for the speech and immediately praised Trump for his words and his delivery.

Stephen Hadley, a former aide to President George W. Bush, called the speech "great."

"It was a great speech," Hadley insisted. "It captured the moment."

"He focused on them, focused on the heroes," Hadley continued. "He found a very powerful story, and I think it’s important for the American people to remind the sacrifice and the courage those men and women on that plane displayed. So I think it was a difficult moment, and I think he rose to the moment and helped the country to remember."

NBC News political reporter Josh Lederman argued that Trump's speech was successful because he did not talk about himself.

"You know, Hallie this is the speech many in the White House were praying president Donald Trump would be able to give, the tone they were hoping he would be able to strike on a somber occasion like this," Lederman explained. "It was sober. It was emotional. He made it about other people."

"He wasn’t self-reverential," the reporter added. "He told personal stories, and he really allowed this day to be for other people, and I think that it’s going to probably go down as one of the better speeches this president has given."
