On Thursday, a South Carolina Republican Congressman decided to twist Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh's sexual assault investigation into a sick joke.
During an election debate, U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman (R-Rock Hill) made light of the "latest drama" facing Washington after Christine Blasey Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at a party while the two were in high school.
"Did y’all hear this latest late-breaking news on the Kavanaugh hearings?” he said. “Ruth Bader Ginsburg came out saying she was groped by Abraham Lincoln.”
The joked received little laughs from the Kiwanis Club of Rock Hill, but drew massive criticisms from Democrats on social media.
Norman's opponent, Sumter Democrat Archie Parnell, said his comments revealed his true character.
“My opponent apparently thinks sexual assault is a joke. It is not,” Parnell said. “But I guess that’s the best we can expect from someone who pulled a loaded gun on his own constituents.”
