In an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Donald Trump aide Kellyanne Conway admitted that the president's attacks on the press are "not healthy."

In the first interview for her new show "Amanpour and Company" for PBS, the veteran journalist asked Trump's counselor if she thinks there is "some way to get out of" the tensions between the president and the press.

"I do agree that it's not healthy for the body politic on either side," Conway responded, later adding that she "and others have tried, the president has tried, to turn down the temperature, to give more access."

She then shifted to attacking the press for not covering economic gains under the Trump presidency.

"I think the media will start covering the economy if it ever goes down," Conway said. "I think they'll start covering the regulation if it ever starts going up again."
