The conservative Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is begging "conservative patriots" in the San Francisco Bay Area to help fund his reelection campaign in Fresno, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday.
Rep. Devin Nunes is "bombarding" Bay Area Republicans with mail asking for money in the nine-county region in which as single state legislator is the only Republican holding elected office.
“I have become a constant target of attack for the political establishment, the mainstream media, far-left special interest groups and the extreme left-wing of the Democratic Party,” Nunes wrote. “I have a closeup view of the left’s freakish coalition — the powerful public employee unions, radical environmental organizations, myriad far-left groups and other bizarre elements that comprise the left-wing power structure.”
Nunes complained that Democratic Party challenger Andrew Janz has raised millions of dollars and that "he'll raise millions more."
“Replacing me in Congress with a leftist would be a major victory for the Democrats, Nunes acknowledged. “I am depending on conservative patriots like you in California to stand with me.”
Nunes' hometown paper, the Fresno Bee, has supported the conservative politician since his first run from Congress in 2002. This year, the Bee endorsed Nunes' opponent.
The local newspaper also slammed Nunes in a hilarious editorial posted over the weekend.
