Former FBI agent explains to MSNBC why the Kavanaugh probe wasn't a 'real' investigation

Former FBI special agent John Mindermann was unimpressed with the FBI report into Brett Kavanaugh's background, telling MSNBC the investigation was neither "real" nor "authentic", and would fail to show the full picture of what happened to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford 30 years ago.

Mindermann said that although there were plenty of leads, the president's constraints have dramatically limited any results. "That is very, very problematic because that limits the overall portrait," he said. "It's like taking the brush out of the hand of the painter midway through the portrait session."

The former agent lamented that the report may not include important information "that may or may not corroborate specific allegations that were brought forward."

Mindermann was also disappointed that the FBI didn't interview either Dr.Blasey Ford or Kavanaugh, and said the report was nowhere near as comprehensive as the White House and Republicans insist.

"This does not fall under the definition of a real authentic FBI investigation, he said and blasted the Trump administration for botching it. "It really is an investigation which is just limited in terms of targeting specific individuals and for reasons unknown, eliminating a vast majority of people who could have provided corroborating evidence, corroborating information, positive, negative, neutral, whatever."
