Fox News host Sean Hannity opened his Friday night show by saying that the United States is becoming a "banana republic," and that the "lawless, shameful behavior of" of the protestors who gathered in the halls of Congress to voice concern about the nomination of accused rapist Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
"We as a country cannot reward this meanness, madness, insanity," Hannity said of the multiple rape allegations brought forward against Kavanaugh. "This is so over-the-top, so despicably ugly and disgusting."
Hannity rolled footage of protestors chanting.
"[There was] an angry mob of protestors harassing senators all over Capital Hill," Hannity said of the peaceful protests. "This is now getting dangerous."
Hannity then suggested that the solution was to lock the public out of the halls of Congress.
"I really believe the people should be close to their elected representatives, and it's sad what I'm about to say: Before somebody gets hurt or worse, these office areas of elected officials now need to be closed to the public. Sad! But it needs to happen. This is now dangerous and out-of-control."
