NBC's Megyn Kelly on Wednesday said that a letter in which a 17-year-old Brett Kavanaugh admitted that he was a "drunk" is proof that he showed "responsibility" as a young man.
On her Wednesday Today Show program, Kelly slammed The New York Times for publishing a letter Kavanaugh wrote at the age of 17. In the letter, Kavanaugh describes himself and his friends as "loud, obnoxious drunks with prolific pukers."
Kelly argued that the Times should not have published the letter.
"Can I just say, this is ridiculous," Kelly opined, holding the letter up to the camera. "It's ridiculous! If you read this whole letter you will be so impressed at the responsibility of this young man, saying to his roommates, this is when the lease needs to be paid. It has to be paid in cash, do it upfront."
"And then he puts a postscript on there... it's a joke!" she said of Kavanaugh's drinking admission. "This does not help anyone's case. And The New York Times, they should not be focused on that."
And with that statement, Kelly crushed the letter into a ball and tossed it at the camera.
