A Nevada mom is surprised to find others were angry with her son dressing as Adolf Hitler for Halloween, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The incident happened at a community Halloween event in Boulder City.
Janet Arsanian, who is a teacher at Cortney Junior High, said she was having trouble finding a costume for her 13-year-old son, so she dressed him as Hitler.
“I’m the proud parent of the boy in the Hitler costume and my son didn’t mean to upset anyone,” she wrote in response to rage in a community Facebook group. “He needed a last-minute costume and he put that together today. No we don’t worship Hitler or agree with what he did.”
Some of Arsanian's fellow teachers came to her defense after controversy erupted.
“As soon as I looked at that, I thought, ‘It’s a kid in a Halloween costume. Why are you going after his mother and her job? Because you don’t like the Halloween costume?’” said fellow teacher Brian Scott.
