Rick Santorum mansplains Kavanaugh anger to CNN women: 'This is really more about the left'
Rick Santorum mansplains why women are angry to a panel of women on CNN/Screenshot

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum appeared on CNN Saturday afternoon, joining a panel of women.

Host Dana Bash opened the segment by talking about how Kavanaugh's confirmation was "incredibly emotional" for women. She said she'd been getting texts from other women who were angry and sad about the development.

Santorum quickly cut her off to explain how the women protesting Kavanaugh were actually feeling.

"Candidly, I think it's more than that," Santorum said. "Look, this is, this is really more about the left in American than it is about women."

Santorum then said there was "a last minute attempt to weaponize the #MeToo movement" to keep the accused rapist off the Supreme Court.

"They used it because the stakes were so high," Santorum said. "The vast majority of [the protestors] are people who opposed Brett Kavanaugh from the beginning and saw an opportunity to stop him."

Later in the segment, Santorum said the women protesting Kavanaugh were engaged in "histrionics."
