Things may be scary in Washington year-round, but this year's political costumes remind us that spooky can sometimes be fun.

Whether it's candidates and politicians in non-political costumes, adults or babies dressed as political figures or other politically-themed, these Halloween looks are some of our favorites.

1. California gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom dressed as Batman.

CALMatters' Laurel Rosenhall captured an excellent photo of former San Francisco mayor and California gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom dressed as Batman, replete with trick-or-treating pumpkin.

He was joined by Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, who was dressed as Superman.

2. A journalist's baby dressed as "Ruth Baby Ginsburg."

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Abraham Gutman posted a gif of his daughter dressed as "Ruth Baby Ginsburg." In the gif, the infant hits herself in the face with her gavel — a scene Gutman said is her portrayal of "the moment [Justice Ginsburg] heard she is going to have to work with Brett Kavanaugh."

3. Politico reporter as Rod Rosenstein

Politico cybersecurity Eric Geller posted two photos side-by-side — one of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein hiding behind an American flag while wearing a black suit, white shirt and spotted red tie, the other of himself wearing an almost identical outfit.

It's unclear if Geller intended to dress as Rosenstein or if the men just share similar ties (and looks), but the photo comparison did prompt Reveal's Aaron Sankin to joke that the two looked like father and son.

4. Voter registration staffers

CNN's Brian Stelter captured a photo of a couple dressed as voter registration staffers — complete with red, white and blue fake beard — in New York City.

5. Baby Beto

One little boy's Beto O'Rourke costume was so adorable, the candidate posted the photo to his Twitter. He added a photo of himself and a supporter dressed in identical blue shirts and orange-and-white striped cups from the Whataburger fast food chain to explain the cup the boy held.

6. Baby Mueller and his dads, Inmates Cohen and Manafort.

Journalist Mike Carter-Conneen posted photos of his family's costume — his baby dressed as Special Counsel Robert Mueller (as evidenced by his silver hair dye and tiny briefcase that reads "special counsel") and him and his husband dressed in identical orange jumpsuits with the words "Cohen" and "Manafort" emblazoned on their chests.

7. "Fake News" journalist

Journalist Christine Tatum wore a "fake news" dress, complete with an "earth flat" headline.

"It's the perfect dress for White House press conferences/Trump administration protests" and Trump rallies, Tatum tweeted. It's also "an abomination," she added.

8. Little Michelle Obama

When 2-year-old Parker Curry saw Michelle Obama's portrait she was so awestruck that she became an online sensation. This year for Halloween, she became that portrait in all of her grace and beauty.
