In brief remarks to reporters on Tuesday, Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum said a victory would send a message to his Republican opponent as well as President Trump that Florida is restoring a "politics of decency."
Asked by a reporter, "if you do win tonight, what does that say about where we are as a state," Gillum had a ready answer.
"Us winning tonight I think will send a message to Mr. Trump and Mr. DeSantis as well that the politics of hatred and of division, of separation, that they come to an end," Gillum said.
"People are going out and voting for something and not against," the candidate added. "By voting for somebody, we're returning the politics of decency and what's right and what's common between all of us. We'll worry about history later."
