Michael Caputo: Mueller probe is in trouble because they interviewed man 'who wears women's underwear'

Former Trump campaign official Michael Caputo on Thursday argued that special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation is floundering because it is focusing on "drug-addled" radio host Randy Credico and Jerome Corsi, a conspiracy theorist who Caputo says can't be trusted.

In an interview on CNN, host John Berman pointed out that Roger Stone, an associate of Corsi, had repeatedly lied about meeting with Russians and speaking to Trump campaign officials about WikiLeaks, which laundered emails stolen by Russia to bolster then-candidate Donald Trump's campaign.

Berman wondered if Roger Stone could be "taken at his word" that he did not discuss WikiLeaks with Trump.

Caputo complained that Mueller's investigators and journalists were asking Trump associates to recall meetings and correspondence that took place months or years ago.

"It's interesting now that we appear to be approaching the conclusion of the Mueller investigation," Caputo said. "And we're all the way down to [Jerome Corsi], who believes that Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States and that 9/11 is an inside job... whether or not he remembers an email and whether or not he was in touch with [WikiLeaks founder] Julian Assange."

"I don't think the Mueller investigation with decades of Yale Law School experience among them ever believed that at the end of their investigation, they'd be there looking at folks like Corsi," he insisted.

"Roger Stone is also one of these people who has been near the president," the CNN host observed. "What does it say about the president that he surrounds himself with these people who surround themselves with [people like Roger Stone]."

Berman went on to note that Stone had allegedly asked Corsi to lie to the grand jury about his communications regarding WikiLeaks.

Caputo deflected the question by suggesting that Corsi and witness Randy Credico are bigger liars than Stone.

"It also doesn't explain why Corsi in his interviews with the Mueller investigation discussed his disbelief on the theory of who killed J.F.K. or where Barack Obama was born," Caputo opined. "I mean, this is going to be a very difficult witness if that's what they're relying [on]. And they're relying upon Corsi and Randy Credico, a drug-addled former comedian who wears women's underwear."

"This is really not going anywhere," Caputo added.

"These are the people who were connected to Roger Stone, who was connected to the president," Berman reminded Caputo.

"Roger is a colorful character," Caputo shrugged.
