White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders revealed on Wednesday that a national security staffer is still working at the White House after reports said that the woman was effectively fired by First Lady Melania Trump.
In an unprecedented move on Tuesday, the first lady called for the ouster of Deputy National Security Adviser Mira Ricardel, an aide to National Security Adviser John Bolton. White House staffers later confirmed to news outlets that Ricardel would be fired.
But Sarah Sanders told CNBC’s Eamon Javers that Ricardel reported for work on Wednesday. Sanders would not say whether or not Bolton’s deputy would be fired at some point in the future.
Sarah Sanders just told me that Deputy National Security Advisor Mira Ricardel still works at the White House this morning and is here today. Asked if that means she will be here for the long term, Sanders said if there are any developments she will let us know.
