In a newly released clip of an interview with Axios, President Donald Trump brushes aside concerns that his heated rhetoric about the media, immigrants and George Soros will get someone killed.
Despite the fact that Trump supporter Cesar Sayoc was arrested last week on charges of sending pipe bombs to the president's political enemies -- including Soros, CNN, the Clinton family and the Obama family -- the president remained defiant about calling CNN the "enemy of the people."
"Don't you worry at all?" asked Axios reporter Jim VandeHei. "You are the most powerful man in the world, and if you say that word -- 'enemy, enemy' -- there are tens of thousands of people that go to a stadium to listen to you, and people go on social media and get themselves so jazzed up, there's got to be a part of you that's scared somebody is going to take it too far."
Without hesitating, Trump replied, "It is my only form of fighting back."
He then added, "I couldn't be here" unless he relentlessly attacked his foes.
Additionally, Trump told Axios that "I think I'm doing a service" by attacking the media because "people write stories about me that are so wrong."
