MSNBC investigative reporter Tom Winter said Thursday that President Trump should feel "really nervous today" if his written responses to special counsel Robert Mueller are contradicted by Cohen's latest guilty plea.
"I think there could be a lot of concern about that, particularly if there's evidence to back it up," Winter said. "Anybody that thinks that Robert Mueller is going to take Michael Cohen at his word just because he wants to come in and talk to him, that's not how it works."
"There's evidence that appears or is alleged to back up the things that Michael Cohen pled guilty to today," he continued, pointing to phone records and messages.
"If you're the president and you've answered these questions and they disagree with Michael Cohen in any sort of way here, you might be really nervous today and saying, 'what evidence do they have that will prove that I lied to federal investigators,'" Winter said. "I think there could be significant legal exposure."
