MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace could not keep a straight face while reporting on President Donald Trump's contention that his "gut" is more intelligent than the brains of scientists.
Wallace played a famous clip of comedian Stephen Colbert -- in character as a conservative pundit -- speaking about the brilliance of his gut at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
"In 2006, it was just a punch line. In 2018, it's policy," Wallace noted.
The host repeatedly burst into laughter as she played clip after clip of Trump making outrageous claims.
Describing the Trump era, she said, "Let's call it a grave period of shameful ignorance."
After playing one clip of Trump referring to himself as a "stable genius" the host actually had to apologize for how hard she was laughing.
