A video that went viral in the Louisville, Kentucky area shows police striking a handcuffed black man while he was laying on the ground and carrying him horizontally into a police cruiser during an arrest outside a bar.

The WDRB news station reported that the video shot by an onlooker began with four Louisville Metro Police officers pinning down a man named Matthew Murphy.

One of the officers then points what appears to be a Taser at someone in the crowd encircling the scene before striking Murphy in the head with that same object.

The officers later pick the man up by his shoulders and feet and carry him into a cruiser. Murphy's mugshot shows him with multiple marks on his face.

LMPD charged the man with assaulting police and other counts and held him on a $25,000 bond.

According to WDRB, the department is investigating the police officers' actions in the video.
