On Monday, President Donald Trump had a press conference on the White House lawn before heading to a campaign rally for disgraced Mississippi Senate candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith (R).
During the press conference, a reporter asked the president about his immigration policy. Trump has been highly criticized for his stance on immigration. Over the weekend, Trump authorized the shooting of tear gas from the U.S. border into Mexico against migrants.
When asked about his family separation policy, Trump deflected the question and proceeded to blame former president Barack Obama.
“You said your policy at the border was as the same as the Obama Administration. It wasn’t. You decided to prosecute [everyone.]," a reporter said.
"Obama had a separation policy, we all had the same policy," Trump said. "I tried to do it differently. Obama had a separation policy, but people don't like to talk about that."
"Sir, it was different. You decided to prosecute everyone at the border," the reporter responded.
