CNN on Wednesday reported that almost everyone in the White House is in danger of getting fired in the coming weeks -- and the sole exceptions are members of the president's family.
Citing CNN reporting, host Alisyn Camerota said on Wednesday morning that only daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner should feel safe in their jobs amid a widespread Trump White House purge sparked in part by the Republican Party's loss of the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections.
Co-host John Berman went so far as to call it the "West Wing Red Wedding," a reference to the notorious "Game of Thrones" episode in which multiple characters are slaughtered at a wedding after being betrayed by a family that they thought were allies.
Camerota and Berman were then joined by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who pointed out that it's unlikely that there will be a "massive" turnover at the White House because so many people have already left.
She did say, however, that President Donald Trump is still fuming over his party's losses in the midterms, which now leave him exposed to subpoenas from a Democratic House of Representatives.
"It's definitely gotten worse since the midterms," Haberman said of Trump's mood. "Whether that's a temporary state of being, it's hard to say."
