President Donald Trump struck a defiant note on Tuesday despite being under increasing pressure for an estimated 17 different investigations into himself and his associates.

Writing on Twitter, Trump continued to insist that the entire Mueller investigation was a "hoax" that was set up by FBI agents to bring him down.

"Biggest outrage yet in the long, winding and highly conflicted Mueller Witch Hunt is the fact that 19,000 demanded Text messages between Peter Strzok and his FBI lover, Lisa Page, were purposely & illegally deleted," Trump wrote. "Would have explained whole Hoax, which is now under protest!"

As Politico reporter Kyle Cheney points out, however, the missing texts in question were accidentally deleted and were subsequently recovered and reviewed by the FBI inspector general.
