Fox News on Monday noted how unusual it is that President Donald Trump will not be speaking at the Washington, DC funeral for former President George H.W. Bush.

Fox News chief news anchor Shepard Smith noted how then-President George W. Bush eulogized Gerald Ford in 2006 and Ronald Reagan in 2004. A decade earlier, then-President Bill Clinton eulogized Richard Nixon.

Smith said it was "unusual, but not unheard of."

"Again, very unusual for a sitting president to not speak at the funeral of a former president," noted Fox News chief White House correspondent John Roberts.

"The 2016 campaign left a lot of bad blood between the Trumps and the Bushes," he added. "There was actually some question as to whether or not the president would go to the funeral given the fact that he didn't go to Barbara Bush's."
