CNN political commentator Errol Louis on Thursday ridiculed President Donald Trump's attempt at a "lawyerly" response to the sentencing of his former fixer Michael Cohen, saying the president was
"missing the point."
"He's making lawyerly sounds, there's no legal coherence there," Louis said in response to Jim Sciutto, who asked if the president was taking the issue seriously. "There is a whole ton of evidence."
"There's audio evidence. There's travel documents. There's bank fraud on top of all this stuff because Michael Cohen was foolish enough to try and lie to the bank to get the home equity line of credit to pay off the mistress," he added, laughing out loud.
"The president is going to discover that, if he's focussing on a legal defense, as poor as this, is he's kind of missing the point," Louis continued. "I think this is ultimately going to be tried in the court of politics, rather than in a courtroom."
