Sen. Lindsey Graham, Donald Trump -- (screeshot/AFP)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) made the mistake of claiming that President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful wall" was a metaphor for "border security." It prompted many to wonder that if the wall was now nothing more than a metaphor, why it was even necessary.
"Well, just consider our 'no' as a metaphor for $5 billion," joked David Waldman.
"So build a metaphorical wall for free and then end the shutdown, you numpty," said Imani Gandy, who had a similar idea.
Even conservative Bill Kristol couldn't help but laugh at the awkward phrasing.
"The wall has become a metaphor for belligerent stupidity and casual cruelty," he tweeted.
