On Wednesday, Comedian Samatha Bee hosted a Chrismas special on "ICE" where she jabbed President Donald Trump, Fox News, the Republicans and the immigration and border patrol for their lack of a true Chrismas spirit. The special was all in an effort to raise money for the children's defense fund that gave a legal defense to those families still separated while at the border and those seeking asylum.
Bee started to sing about how terrible Trump is during the holidays with a chorus of ice dancers surrounded by 18 Christmas trees.
"Christmas is special. It is the most terrible season of the year. The news cycle slows to 11th gear," she sang.
"The angel said unto them behold I bring you tidings of great joy because unto you is born in the city of David a Savior Christ the Lord," a child sang. "It is a good thing he was born in the city of David and not Donald because Trump would have probably said 'Savior of mankind?' more like a loser and put him and Mary in jail."
In a later segment, Bee explored the heartbreaking way Republicans are waging a war on Christmas by deporting farm workers at Christmas tree farms.
But in her final moment, Bee continued her crusade for the true spirit of Christmas by buying and renovating a house for the lawyers living on the border trying to help the families pleading for asylum. She brought together comedians to sing a song in a "We Are The World" way, including former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, who donned a wig and pretended to be Bob Dylan.
"You know, in a lot of Christmas specials this would be the time that I found the true meaning of Christmas," Bee said at the close of the show. "But I already know it. On Christmas, we celebrate the birth of man whose message was one of radical kindness. A man who said, 'Whatever you do for the least of these you do for me.' If you're not doing your best to show compassion for the poor, the weak, the sick and, yes, the immigrants then you are doing Christmas wrong! I don't care what the hell is on your Starbucks cup. Anyway, Jesus loves me and He hates Fox News. Bye!"
Bee urged viewers to see the TBS store where they can buy merch where the proceeds got to help those families fighting for safety on the border.
