President Donald Trump’s longtime personal attorney was sentenced to three years in prison and a $1 million fine on Wednesday following his guilty plea in a case involving his participation in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 presidential election by paying hush-money to Trump’s mistresses.
Cohen had once claimed he’d “take a bullet” for Trump, and the reaction to his sentence reflected his loyalty and the effect his moves had on Trump’s political rise.
Cohen reportedly took the sentence hard, reportedly closing his eyes and shaking his head as if in disbelief when the sentence was read out.
Cohen had once taunted Hillary Clinton with threats of imprisonment, which prompted many to savor the irony.
Hillary Clinton is partying with Beyoncé in India.
Michael Cohen is going to the hoosegow.
Individual 1 probably just filled his diaper.
This is hilarious.

That time Donald Trump’s lawyer went to jail for crimes Donald Trump directed him to do and yet Donald Trump continued to be president. #MichaelCohen

I mean, it’s not like he was a black guy caught with weed or something. #MichaelCohen just sold out America for some cash on behalf of a treasonous game show host. #WhitePrivilege https://t.co/6f3dTApePd

Worth underscoring that if Donald Trump wasn’t President of the United States, he would have been sentenced to jail today alongside Michael Cohen.

If Michael Cohen got 3 years for his crimes, wouldn’t you hate to be the man who ordered him to commit them?#TrumpForPrison2020
