Comedian Kevin Hart has responded to critics upset about decade-old anti-gay tweets.
On Thursday night Hart tweeted that he is "truly happy" and that he wished critics would understand how happy he is.
"Stop looking for reasons to be negative...Stop searching for reasons to be angry....I swear I wish you guys could see/feel/understand the mental place that I am in," he said.
Hart is scheduled to host the Academy Awards.
The anti-gay tweets resurfaced early on Thursday and were covered by media including the Daily Beast.
Hart attacked a fellow Twitter user as a “fat faced f*g,” another as a “f*g boy,” and also mocked AIDS and the idea of his son playing with girls' toys.
