During a fiery exchange Monday night, CNN's Chris Cuomo verbally sparred with a former Trump White House lawyer who insisted on downplaying the multiple Trump aides charged with lying to federal prosecutors.
"None of this information, to date, has come close to the president of the United States," former associate White House counsel Jim Schultz said emphatically during a segment about Michael Cohen pleading guilty to lying to federal prosecutors.
"Michael Cohen did," Cuomo rebutted, adding that Donald Trump's former "fixer" is "all over the president."
"None of them," Schultz said in the segment with former Obama White House ethics czar Norm Eisen. "No one has been charged with any crimes relative to their activities on the campaign."
"Michael Cohen was charged with something to do with borrowing money, something to do with talking to the bank about the money that he borrowed, something to do with lying about the payoff on the women and something to do with lying about a campaign contribution to do with paying off the women," Cuomo said. "Two of those four are directly related to the president."
"How can you say it's not related, Jim?" the host added. "Even a dummy like me know it's related!"
Schultz, with his voice raised, insisted that he "didn't say" it was unrelated to Trump -- and then the panel dissolved into chaos.
