Trump adviser Steve Cortes on Friday evening made a bizarre comparison to gang violence when discussing the partisan divide between the GOP and Democrats.
The discussion began when CNN host Kate Bolduan reported that House Democrats are "actively staffing up, looking to hire a batch of attorneys for what may be the largest investigation of a sitting president."
"How do we know?" the host mused. "Look no further than the job postings. One looking for attorneys with experience in criminal law, immigration law, constitutional law, intellectual property law, commercial and administrative law or oversight work. Everything except divorce attorneys."
Bolduan then asked Steve Cortes, a member of Donald Trump's 2016 Hispanic Advisory Council, if the White House is prepared for the intensive investigations.
"I hope so," Cortes said. "I worry at times they don't. I worry the White House staff might not realize the political wave about to happen in 2019."
He then made a strange statement: that tensions between Democrats and Republicans are "the political version of the Crips and the Bloods."
"[Democrats] are getting ready to fight," Cortes said. "They're hiring lawyers. They are. They're getting ready for a brawl."
"A wild mental image," Bolduan said.
