Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) gave a brutal economics lesson to former Wisconsin GOP governor Scott Walker on Twitter Tuesday.
The new congresswoman responded to a tweet in which Walker bragged that he was educating fifth graders about taxes by telling them that Democratic policies were like taking $7 of the $10 a kid made doing chores.
Explaining tax rates before Reagan to 5th graders: “Imagine if you did chores for your grandma and she gave you $10. When you got home, your parents took $7 from you.” The students said: “That’s not fair!” Even 5th graders get it.

AOC, who has triggered her Republican colleagues by suggesting that the super-wealthy be taxed at between 70 and 80 percent, went on to explain marginal tax rates to a “far-right former Governor.”
Explaining marginal taxes to a far-right former Governor:
Imagine if you did chores for abuela & she gave you $10. When you got home, you got to keep it, because it’s only $10.ADVERTISEMENT
Then we taxed the billionaire in town because he’s making tons of money underpaying the townspeople. https://t.co/Wcnn2sEgek

AOC’s proposed tax policies have been vetted by economists, including the Nobel-winning Paul Krugman, who say they would be excellent for the American economy.
Here are some of the other great responses to Walker’s tweet.
how many of the 5th graders then got up and corrected you about how it *actually* workedADVERTISEMENT

So you lied to 5th graders because you are a moron who doesn’t understand what AOC but wanted to use your FOX News got take?ADVERTISEMENT
I’m so glad you lost.
