Rudy Giuliani denied a BuzzFeed report alleging that President Donald Trump directed his former attorney Michael Cohen to lie to congressional investigators.
The president’s current personal attorney issued the denial to Hallie Jackson of NBC News about 14 hours after the report was published, and after White House spokesman Hogan Gidley and senior Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway each refused to deny the report.
“Any suggestion – from any source – that the President counseled Michael Cohen to lie is categorically false,” Giuliani said.
The report is based on two law enforcement sources who say they have witness statements and other evidence that Trump told Cohen to lie about negotiations of a real estate deal in Moscow.
