Chris Wallace roundhouses Mike Pence for blaming Democrats for shutdown: ‘You could open the government tomorrow’

Fox News host Chris Wallace on Sunday called out Vice President Mike Pence after he falsely claimed that the Democrats are preventing the government from reopening.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Wallace noted that the White House did not have the necessary number of votes to pass a Republican-backed spending bill in the Senate. The Democrats, however, have passed bills that would reopen the government.

“The American people want action on our southern border,” Pence insisted. “They want border security. Eight-hundred thousand federal workers want us to find a way to open the government.”

“You could open the government tomorrow,” Wallace said, repeating the line three times. “The House has passed bills to open the government tomorrow, why don’t you sign them and open the government and then you can negotiate about this?”

“Chris, what the American people want us to do is to work on their priorities and the American people want us to secure the border,” Pence opined.

“No,” Wallace retorted. “Isn’t that you just want the leverage and you figure if you don’t keep the government closed then [Republican border was plans are] going to go nowhere?”

Pence replied by complaining that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has vowed not to give President Donald Trump his border wall even if the government is reopened.

Nancy Pelosi roasts Mark Zuckerberg for ‘pandering’ to Trump and his ‘silly’ tantrums

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday mocked Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for his efforts to appease President Donald Trump's criticisms of major social media companies.

During a press conference, Pelosi said that Zuckerberg "just panders" to Trump in an effort to preserve his business model, which she described as a platform for people to "misrepresent facts" without consequence.

"They knew during the 2016 elections that the Russians were engaged in foul play," she said. "They knew, because they saw where the money was coming from!"

She then turned her attention to Trump's new executive order that will reportedly open up tech platforms to more lawsuits.

Pennsylvania state Rep. Brian Sims (D) lashed out at Republican lawmakers who remained silent after testing positive for COVID-19.

Democrats this week accused Republicans of withholding information after Rep. Andrew Lewis (R) tested positive for the virus.

"It's been a week, perhaps longer, that House Republican leadership knew that at least one of their members had tested positive for COVID-19," Sims explained in a Facebook post. "But they didn't go on quarantine until they were done serving alongside us, especially those of us that serve on the State Government Committee."
