FLASHBACK: Trump bragged last month that now-indicted Roger Stone would never flip on him
Roger Stone and Donald Trump

President Donald Trump praised longtime ally Roger Stone for not incriminating him -- less than two months before the GOP activist was arrested in the special counsel probe.

Stone had long been rumored as a target of Robert Mueller as his team investigated links between Russia and the Trump campaign, and the president tweeted out appreciation Dec. 3 for his loyalty.

“'I will never testify against Trump.' This statement was recently made by Roger Stone, essentially stating that he will not be forced by a rogue and out of control prosecutor to make up lies and stories about 'President Trump,'" Trump tweeted. "Nice to know that some people still have 'guts!'”

Stone was arrested early Friday morning on seven counts, and he's due in court later for an arraignment.
