White House officials are growing worried that President Donald Trump's crush on Kim Jong-Un will blind him to the fact that the North Korean dictator's promises of denuclearization have gone unfulfilled, as the administration scouts out a location for their second summit.

CNN host Poppy Harlow on Friday noted that the White House had been roundly criticized for the previous substance, which she described as "more about optics and a photo op than about real substance", and asked if recent letters sent from Kim to Trump had been meant to distract from the dictator's broken promises.

"These letters are meant to encourage Trump to remind him of the enthusiasm that he felt for his relationship with Kim Jong-Un after the Singapore summit," replied CNN national security reporter Kylie Atwood. "They skirt him from looking at the reality here, that denuclearization hasn't happened yet."

"Folks are frustrated in the administration," Atwood added. "They look at these letters and Trump being starry-eyed about the prospects."
