Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) was shut down hard on Tuesday after claiming on CNN that President Donald Trump won the debate over his border wall with his primetime address from the Oval Office.
"Anybody that honestly looked at what was said tonight, this was a win for the president and on several fronts," Santorum argued.
He praised Trump for putting together a "presentation" and not deviating from his script.
"You say Trump's going to lose this argument, if the Democrats are going to say you can give us the world and we're still 'no' because you're not giving us one inch of wall, the president's going to win this argument," Santorum predicted.
Republican strategist and CNN political analyst Ana Navarro disagreed.
"I think here's the problem, when you have a president who lies consistently and pathologically -- and you see him scripted once every blue moon -- you don't buy it," she explained.
"You don't believe him, you know he is scripted," Navarro continued. "And I think the majority of the American people have now come to understand that this is a lying president."
"He lied today," she said. "It is downright lies to try and make a political point."
