The View's Meghan McCain said Wednesday that freshman Senator Mitt Romney's public attack on President Donald Trump, which elicited a tart response from the senator's niece, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniels, was a "Romney on Romney crime" and predicted the GOP would have a tumultuous 2020.

McCain had little but mockery for both the Senator and his niece, saying a photo of Romney dining with Trump revealed the failed presidential candidate's soul crying for help.

"What's fascinating about the dynamics of this is that his niece, Ronna McDaniel, is the GOP chairwoman," McCain said, as she read McDaniels' Twitter response to her uncle. "That's some Romney on Romney crime."

"Where I come from in political families, you do not attack people you're related to no matter what happens," she said. "What's really going to be interesting is what happens with the GOP chair and the RNC given that his niece is the spokesperson."

"What if you're related to a murderer?" asked Joy Behar, who clearly wasn't sold on McCain's statement.

"My dad could have murdered somebody in cold blood and I would have said it doesn't matter," McCain replied.

"Romney is going to be about Romney every single time," chimed in Abby Huntsman. "I would not be surprised if in a year he's thinking about running against Trump." This set off McCain even more.

"That's the worst idea," she said. "That's the worst idea."
