President Donald Trump on Saturday lashed out at Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- hours before presenting Democrats with a new border security proposal.
On the 29th day of his government shutdown, Trump appeared no closer to ending his demand that U.S. taxpayers pay for his border wall -- which he had promised would be funded by Mexico.
Speaking with reporters on the South Lawn of the White House, Trump's comments came only hours before his "major announcement" on his shutdown.
"Well, I hope that Speaker Pelosi can come along and realize what everybody knows -- no matter who it is -- they know that walls work and we need walls," Trump claimed.
"And whether it is personal or not, it is not personal for me," he argued.
"She's being controlled by the radical left, which is a problem," he continued.
"She's under total control of the radical left," Trump claimed. "I think it is a very bad thing for her, I think it's a very bad thing for the Democrats."
