Bestselling author Stephen King on Saturday offered a $10,000 bounty for President Donald Trump to debate his border wall.

During the 2016 campaign, Trump promised a concrete wall across the entire southern border -- that Mexico would fund. Mexico refused, which put Trump in a position of having broken his signature policy promise.

So Trump shut down the government -- setting the record for the longest government shutdown -- in an attempt to get the United States Congress to pay for his wall. That was also unsuccessful.

After Congress only allocated $1.37 billion for border fencing, Trump declared a national emergency in an attempt to take money Congress had allocated for other projects and use that to build his wall. His choice was widely panned by members of both political parties and lawsuits have already been filed.

Author Don Winslow on Friday challenged Trump to debate his wall and even said the debate could occur on the president's "own network" -- Fox News.

King saw Winslow's challenge and offered to pay $10,000 to see it happen.
