'Was this a coup?!' Fox & Friends host freaks out at revelations that DOJ mulled plan to oust Trump

The bombshell revelation from former deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe that officials at the Department of Justice considered invoking the 25th amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office caused a massive freak out at "Fox & Friends" on Thursday.

Reacting to excerpts released from McCabe's upcoming book, host Brian Kilmeade asked Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) if this amounted to an illegal coup against the president.

"In your mind were they trying to overthrow the government?" Kilmeade asked Nunes. "Was this a coup?"

Nunes didn't go so far as to call the DOJ's actions a "coup," but he did claim that the department opened up an investigation into the president based on false pretenses, despite the multiple meetings between Trump campaign officials and Russian government agents that took place during a presidential campaign that Russia tried to help Trump win.

"They were opening up a counterintelligence investigation into a political party based on dirt and research from another political party!" Nunes fumed. "That is something we should never do in this country! Every American should be outraged by this! This is buried by the mainstream media for years! This has gone on two years! It is absolutely absurd!"
