Virginia Governor Ralph Northam defiantly refused to resign on Saturday while reading a prepared statement inside the governor's mansion.

On Friday, it was revealed that Northam had racist imagery on his yearbook page from when he was in medical school.

In a statement released Friday evening, Northam admitted being in one of the photo.

"I am deeply sorry for the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now," Northam said.

However, Northam attempted to walk that back on Saturday morning.

In his prepared statement, Northam denied having purchased the yearbook and claimed he had not seen the page until yesterday.

He claimed he does not believe he was in the pictures.

He did admit wearing blackface during the same period while impersonating Michael Jackson at a dance contest in San Antonio.
