Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) on Wednesday called for an ethics investigation into her colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
The remarks came during a House Oversight Hearing with testimony from former Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Gaetz was widely accused of witness tampering after he posted a tweet threatening Cohen.
"I want to apologize for the inappropriate comments and tweets that have been made by other members of this body," Plaskett said. "And as a former prosecutor and as former counsel on house ethics, I think that at the very least there should be a referral to the Ethics Committee of witness intimidation and tampering under 18 U.S. Code § 1512 of my colleague Matt Gaetz and maybe possibly him being referred for criminal prosecution."
Earlier, Gaetz had been spotted in the committee room even though he is not a member.
