A Detroit bartender is claiming that she was fired for wearing her natural hair, according to a report from Fox 29 News.

Carinne Silverman-Maddox worked at Kid Rock's Made in Detroit restaurant and said that she was let go after wearing her natural hair in an afro. She claimed that she was suddenly fired from the downtown Detroit restaurant after changing her hairstyle, even though the manager claims it was because of the way she was "pouring drinks."

Silverman filed a complaint with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Detroit Free Press is reporting that Silverman was the only black employee. The company has also had other racial discrimination lawsuits filed in the past.

The management company did not immediately respond to Detroit Free Press request for comment.
