Pelosi could make life hell for Senate Republicans if Trump pursues his emergency powers: report

On Friday, President Donald Trump slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during a televised White House meeting for denying him funding for a wall along the Southwest border.

“I think Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of herself,” Trump said. “Because she’s hurting a lot of people. I think the Democrats should be ashamed of themselves,” he added.

On Friday, the Washington Examiner noted that Pelosi has the ability to make things a lot harder for Republicans.

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could move to block President Trump from invoking a national emergency to build a border wall, forcing Senate Republicans to choose between preserving congressional power and crossing the White House," they write.

'The California Democrat, under a seldom-used statute, could put a binding 'resolution of disapproval' on the House floor to counter Trump should he claim constitutional powers to unilaterally build a border wall. The president is threatening action if Congress refuses his demand for $5.7 billion in border wall funding."

Although the president bowed to pressure to re-open government last Friday, he's still pushing for funding for a border wall. Democrats continue to refuse to give it to him.
