White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, CNN reported Friday afternoon.
Sanders claimed in her statement to CNN that she spoke with Mueller at President Donald Trump's behest.
"The President urged me, like he has everyone in the administration, to fully cooperate with the special counsel," the press secretary said. "I was happy to voluntarily sit down with them."
The report noted that Sanders was interviewed around the same time as former White House chief of staff John Kelly — "well after a number of other senior officials, including former White House communications director Hope Hicks and former press secretary Sean Spicer, were brought in for questioning."
