A 5-month-old baby in Italy has died following a botched home circumcision, the Associated Press reports.
The tragedy follows a similar case in which a 2-year-old in Italy died after bleeding out after another home circumcision.
As the AP points out, the deaths are the result of Italian hospitals refusing to carry out circumcisions at affordable prices in a medical setting. That leaves immigrants whose culture demands male circumcision with few options.
Foad Aodi, the founder of the association of foreign doctors in Italy (AMSI), has asked that safe circumcision be made more readily available and affordable.
